Ubuntu and Kubuntu are user friendly operating systems.
Kubuntu is based on K desktop environment(KDE) while Ubuntu is based on GNOME. Windows user will find KDE similar to windows where as GNOME provides some amazing multimedia experience.
Both ubuntu and kubuntu are free to download and open source. Just google it and get the download links.
