How To View The Cache of Firefox

Firefox does not store the temporary internet files to any directory. It stores them in a single file using encryption. It is sometimes very necessary for example if you listen a song from esinps.com you can find the song downloaded to cache as file88.mp3.

To view the cache content you need to type
about:cache in the address bar and the cache content will be displayed.
A GUI front-end is also available for about:cache called CacheViewer.
To install it go to Tools+Add-ons+Get Add-ons and search for cache viewer. Then install it.
To save any file from cache just right click on it and save as option will come.

How to Split A Large File Into Smaller Files

In my previous post I have mentioned how to upload files for free. For large files you need to split the file into smaller pieces and then upload them individually. Here are some of the ways to split a large file.

1.WinRar
- Using winrar you can split a large file ( even folder) into smaller pieces. Just right click on the file(/folder) and then select add to archive. Then in the winrar window at the bottom left side you have the option "split to volume, bytes". Here the main problem is that WinRar is not a free software. Below are the free ways to split a file.

2.HjSplit - hjsplit is one of the most popular file splitter/joiner being used now a days. It is available for both Windows and Linux. Download it from http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/
You can download the java version that will run on any platform with JVM installed.

3.WinMend File Splitter - This is also a fast file splitter/joiner availble for windows.

How to disable the Adobe Reader Online update

Those who use adobe reader for reading pdf files know that one of the most annoying thing with adobe reader is the online updater which download updates in the background as it consumes a lot of bandwidth. This is even worse for users with limited usage as the typical update size is about 50-60 MB. There is no such option in adobe readers main menu to stop that online updater.
But you can use following trick to stop it.
First, go to the adobe reader's plug-ins directory ( typically C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\plug_ins ) and search the file called Updater.api .
Then delete this file.
If you like to use this feature later then create a back up of the plug-in.
